Save Tweet Video
Want to save a tweet video to your phone or computer? Paste the link here and download it as an MP4 in a few seconds.
Works with x.com, twitter.com, fxtwitter, vxtwitter and fixupx links.
X (Twitter) is full of videos worth keeping: a recipe you want to cook later, a goal from last night's match, a clip a friend posted. The app does not let you save a tweet video to your device, but ClipDrift does, for free and without an account.
You may have used the Twitter save option, now called Bookmarks. It keeps the post inside the app, but if the post is deleted or you lose access, the video is gone. Downloading gives you your own copy that plays offline.
How to save a tweet video
- 1
Copy the tweet link
Open the tweet, tap the share icon and choose Copy link.
- 2
Paste it here
Paste the link into the box at the top of this page and press Download.
- 3
Choose a quality and save
Pick a resolution. The video saves as an MP4 you can watch anytime, even offline.
How saving a tweet video works
ClipDrift looks up the tweet through X's public embed service and finds the video files attached to it. X keeps several copies of each video in different sizes, and we show you all of them, best quality first.
When you pick one, the MP4 streams from X's servers to your device. We do not re-encode the video or add a watermark, and we do not keep a copy on our servers. The sound is kept exactly as it was posted.
Save tweet videos on iPhone
Open ClipDrift in Safari and follow the three steps above. When the download finishes, open the Files app, find the video in Downloads, tap the share icon and choose Save Video. It now appears in your Photos.
Save tweet videos on Android
Open ClipDrift in Chrome or another browser and follow the same steps. The video saves to your Downloads folder and usually appears in your gallery app as well, so you can share it right away.
Save tweet videos on a computer
On Windows, Mac or Linux, paste the link and click download. The MP4 goes to your browser's downloads folder. Play it in any media player or drop it into a video editor to trim it.
Twitter save vs. downloading
Both are useful, but they do different jobs:
- Twitter save (Bookmarks) keeps a link to the post inside the X app. You need to be online and logged in to watch it.
- Downloading saves the video file itself. It plays offline, in any app, and stays on your device even if the tweet is deleted.
A good habit is to use both: bookmark posts you want to come back to, and save a tweet video when you want to keep the clip for good, watch it on a flight or use it somewhere else.

Save tweet video FAQ
How do I save a video from a tweet?
Copy the tweet's link with the share icon, paste it into ClipDrift and press Download. Choose a quality and the MP4 saves to your device.
Is the Twitter save button the same as downloading?
No. Twitter save, now called Bookmarks on X, only saves the post inside the app. Downloading with ClipDrift gives you an MP4 file on your device that you can watch offline.
Is ClipDrift safe?
Yes. There is nothing to install and you never sign in to X. Videos stream from X's servers to your device, and we do not keep copies of them.
Do I need an account?
No. Saving a tweet video with ClipDrift is free and needs no account of any kind.
Why can't I save some tweet videos?
ClipDrift can only reach public tweets. Videos from private accounts, deleted tweets, age-restricted tweets and suspended accounts are not available.
Can I save a video from a reply or a quoted tweet?
Yes, if it is public. For a reply, open the reply itself and copy its link. For a quoted tweet, open the original quoted post and copy that link, since the video belongs to it.
Will the video have sound?
Yes. Videos keep their original audio. GIFs on X have no sound, so they save as silent looping clips.
